What a wonderful war!

2002

The mother has got up now. It’s time to get back on the road. The wheels of war start to turn.

The mother has got up now. It’s time to get back on the road.
The wheels of war start to turn. Right. Left. One more day, another. The son carries his house on his shoulders. His feet no longer thinking. The daughter, sitting down, counts the arms and legs abandoned at the side of the road. We’ll do business today. What a wonderful war!

Cartelera Turia

“A theatre of gestures, ritual theatre, poor theatre, essential theatre (…) An unusual line in Valencian theatre.”

Levante EMV

“A pictorial staging which breathes theatricality from all angles. A lyrical and potent collective creation.”

Synopsis

What a Wonderful War! is a gestural staging based on Mother Courage by Bertolt Brecht, where the dramaturg’s text has been substituted by stark gestures and a primitive language, almost animal, to show one of the many disasters caused by war.
