What does it mean to be a champion? Why do we want to win?

Txapeldun portrays the multiple experiences of a champion. It tells us not only about the moments of glory and victory, but also about those of loneliness, pressure, fear and fragility. Instants of intense irony are thus intertwined with others of great sensitivity. What does it mean to be a champion? Why do we want to win?
Synopsis
Based on the figure of a champion in the Basque Country, the herri kirolak, or rural sports, are brought on stage, Basque Pelota takes the lead role as the king of sports. This figure is extrapolated not only to sports in general but to any event in which the objective is to win.
In this way, we are not merely referring to the sporting champion, but we are universalizing the champion. In Txapeldun we question why we all want to stand out at something, why it is so important to be recognized by others. From a young age we learn by achieving small successes which are praised by those older than us. Could it be that winning (regardless of what) stimulates the production of dopamine, the hormone which brings such happiness? And who doesn’t like to win (still regardless of what)?
