What kind of child did my father wish to have? What kind of child would I wish to have? What kind of grandfather would they wish I were for their son? What kind of father would my child wish to have had?
When I was a boy it was impossible for me to imagine myself as I am today. I’m half way there. Far from that boy who used to go outside to jump in the puddles and still too far away from the grandfather that I will be one day and who, today, I am unable to understand. What kind of child did my father wish to have? What kind of child would I wish to have? What kind of grandfather would they wish I were for their son? What kind of father would my child wish to have had?
Synopsis
The Child I Wish to Have is a reflection on education and the role of parents, of grandparents, of teachers and of children in the learning process. On its importance and the courage, difficulty and effort required to educate.
With three generations on stage, The Child I Wish to Have is a tribute from parents to children and from children to parents, despite the reproaches. Present, past and future come together on stage to tell us stories which talk, in short, about life, how we love our children and our parents and how we sometimes find it difficult to communicate.
